Birmingham City University prepares for another jam-packed Open Day
Prospective students are set to arrive at Birmingham City University again, shortly after the start of the new academic year for another jam-packed Open Day.
The day event will be taking place on Saturday 14th November from 9am-3pm. All the students and parents will be given the opportunity to come and see all that the university has to offer.
There are opportunities to view student accommodation, view the university’s state of the art facilitates and there will be chances given for visitors to speak with current students as well as the members of staff regarding their course of interest.
Hannah Kershaw, the Student Ambassador Officer, says: “As this event happens slightly later in the UCAS application process- which opened in September- we generally find that visitors that attend the November Open Day are much more prepared in their research.”
“They, therefore, tend to ask more questions and they may have already visited Open Days at other universities, and therefore will want to know more about what makes us stand out from the rest!”
She also added, in regards to what is to be expected from the Open day, that “I really enjoy the atmosphere at BCU Open Days. I get to work closely with our students and visitors and spend my day trying to make sure that everything is running smoothly and that everyone is having a great time.”
The future BCU students are the University’s main priority on the day, which is also a main priority for Hannah as she says “Our main hope is that all prospective students and their families will have a great day.”
“I hope that they go back excited about the prospect of studying here. It is also really important that the open days are an honest representation of the university, enabling any prospective students to get a good idea of what it is like to study at Birmingham City University”
She adds: “This should help students make a really well-informed choice about their future. Our student ambassadors are the key in enabling that this is the outcome, as they are the best people for visitors to talk about what REALLY happens here at BCU on a day-to day basis.
“So I really hope that based on this alone, we will have many people putting BCU down as their first choice University when they apply”
